2nd September: Dima released once again

And so the news, which comes as no surprise to anyone: Dima is released yet again and will remain free.

An excellent, well thought comment relating to today's hearing was written at the end of the first post (see below) and I would like to share parts of it with you. There are indeed very suspicious contradictions in Dima's latest statement compared to the video we saw the week before last filmed by Realitatea with a hidden camera. This is the very same 'interview' when Vasile Dima said that the babies shouldn't have survived anyway... Remember? Please read on and consider the facts:

"Strange things are happening

So fishy: Dima also states that he called the maintenance company on the 15th - a SUNDAY (Sarah's comment, ie. the day BEFORE the tragedy). Can that be verified that people work on weekends? That Dima called - is there a record? And if he did, the company should have tried to fix the problem IMMEDIATELY since this was the ITU not a hallway!
Moreover, he contradicts himself because on the hidden camera he declared that it was not an outside company, it was someone, an employee, to whom he said: "verificati" , adding that he didn't know if the equipment was checked or not. How about the statement given to the same reporter on the same video that the equipment had been checked 3 days prior to the tragedy?
TribunalHe might be right saying that he was the only one for all these years. If he's right and it can be proven, Marinescu is even more guilty for not taking his job seriously. I bet the a/c in his examination room was working 100%.
I read that the judge denied the prosecutor's demand that Dima be arrested; he will continue to be free. On the other hand, Florentina remains under arrest and someone made the comment that it is for her own good, since many hate her and might even be tempted to harm her physically. What a country!"

Excellent comment, thank you so much. I ask you to read the reports on what happened in court today and then watch the video from Realitatea. Spot the errors. Judge for yourselves. Florentina is in jail 'because she lied' - in a state of panic, trauma due to what had happened and the terror that she'd be blamed for it. She didn't have a lawyer present and was not offered the right to remain silent. Her rights were clearly violated, as Maitre Popescu addressed in court yesterday with a formal complaint. But that doesn't seem to count for anything. Rusine. Dima, on the other hand IS responsible for what happened along with the management. He was in charge of the electricity system including the a/c even though he admitted on the Realitatea video that he was not qualified to be so. he was in charge of fire prevention, evacuation training, was negligent from start to finish. He lied his face off in that court, clearly, obviously...frankly, he was taking the mick. Il se fout de nos gueules, quoi...  And because he is elderly (68???!!! Elderly?) and seriously ill (an illness that suddenly and conveniently hit him out of nowhere which didn't stop him working and hasn't yet prison_doorconfined him to a hospital bed) he was released.

Everyone has been right and I've been the fool all along. In Roumania, justice = injustice. One rule for one and another for another. If Dima is free and Carstea is not, there is nothing that can be said. Nothing that can explain it, nothing that can account for it. The justice system is as bent and as crooked as the health system. It's a travesty for a country today part of the EU. This is 2010. We are no longer in Ceausescu Roumania. But the same 'rules' apply. As was said the other day by a journalist friend of mine, 'you don't disturb the brotherhood'...  What an aberration of fairness, legality and justice.
