Here is some interesting info on the judges. Firstly (and mostly), Viorica Dinu. Please see THIS article in Roumanian. back in April this year, a scandal erupted causing a revolt even amongst judges themselves. A member of the Chinese mafia was acquitted for the murder and depiecing of his two victims. One of the blood-thirstiest mafiosi of the gang Triad is loose on the streets of Bucharest today.
The prosecutors accusations covered half of the entire Penal code. Although investigators established and produced not only evidence (guns and grenades seized, fingerprints, bloodwork, DNA) from criminologists and forensic experts but also 24 witnesses who stated that he had indeed cold-bloodedly murdered his two countrymen, whom he then chopped up, cooked and threw down the toilet in a building on Blvd. Dimitrie Cantemir in Bucharest, Viorica Dinu wasn't convinced. She doubted the accuracy of the forensic tests and asked for the accused to be subjected to the lie detector. He "failed" the tests and experts insisted he was lying. Nothing seemed to impress Viorica Dinu enough to convict him however, stating that he 'did not take part in the deeds'. Tun Zhao Guo was found not guilty, released and remains free to this day as far as I am aware, and entitled to leave the country if he so wishes. It is fitting to ask why she kept Guo under preventive arrest for two and a half years if she doubted his guilt. Very strange...
Here is another article where she is mentioned regarding a judgement concerning members of the Preda clan for drug trafficking amongst other accusations. This time, Viorica Dinu prolonged the preventive arrests. And one more, see HERE : she was involved in the very dubious verdict of Tudor Anghel, a former policeman who created his own set of laws when scandalously elected president of the Association of Hunters and Anglers, Ialomita. All kinds of dodgy wheeling and dealing went on there...
Brindusa Gheorghe: All I can find about her is in this article of 'justice clan' revelations - a text on the relatives of members of the Bucharest Tribunal - nepotism, in a word. She is married to Mihai Gheorghe, a prosecutor of the High Court, and détaché of the Roumanian Parliament. Her mother is a lawyer of the Bucharest bar. Viorica Dinu is also listed here - her brother (Lolea Nicolae) is a lawyer of the Bucharest bar and her god-daughter (Mihaela Costinela) works as legal advisor to the Minister of Transport. That's probably not very useful info, but the articles make interesting reading simply from the point of view that it is a well known fact hundreds if not thousands of judges throughout Roumania are related to each other or with people working in the legal stratasphere. Although that's pretty normal anywhere in the world, family relationships in the Roumanian judicial system has always been a cause for suspicion. Manuela Golea's sister-in-law is a legal advisor and she too is listed in the above article.
Can't find anything else about either Brindusa Gheorghe or Manuela Golea, but I'll keep looking. By far the most interesting is Viorica Dinu.
To be continued...
